Triple H Cleaning Up Vince’s Mess

Is the WWE splitting up its world titles? Fans have heard this rumor since the WWE unified the belts at WrestleMania XXXVIII.

However, WrestleVotes is reporting it’s going to happen soon and that Triple H sees this as one of the last pieces in setting the WWE’s creative ship right after taking it over last summer:

This is the final mess, and you really can call it a mess. This is the final obstacle and the new team is working to overcome that. There was never a plan when Roman Reigns won the titles a year ago. Triple H was handed this mess, By SummerSlam, there’s gonna be two titles.

WrestleVotes didn’t state whether the WWE intends to have Reigns go into SummerSlam with both belts. There were rumors the WWE wanted to split the belts up if The Rock had wrestled Roman at WrestleMania.

WWE Splitting Up World Titles?

Analysis: The title unification is a classic example of hot-shot booking; booking for short-term gain while ignoring long-term consequences. While the title unification bout made for an exciting main event at WrestleMania, it deprived the WWE of having a world title for RAW and SmackDown.

This might have worked except that Roman Reigns works a limited schedule. Fans rarely see world championship defenses. Furthermore, fans bored with Reigns’ current title run have to look elsewhere for main-event entertainment.
