Will It Be Held as a PLE?
Is the WWE bringing a stadium show to Australia? If so, when is it coming and will it be a premium live event (PLE)? This week’s Wrestling Observer reports:
The state government of Western Australia is negotiating with WWE to run a major stadium show. This would be similar to when the city of Melbourne made a deal with WWE twice to run stadium shows, one of which was a PPV show.

Little else is known about the show (such as whether the WWE would make it a PLE). However, the WWE’s current popularity in national and international markets makes it likely that an Australian PLE would be a major success.
The WWE enjoyed tremendous success with its UK show Clash at the Castle. This year’s Money in the Bank in London looks to be a success also.
International shows can present logistical challenges. Nonetheless, they also bring the opportunity for extra revenue. This stems from municipalities paying the WWE a fee to host a WWE event. It’s believed this incentive fee is why Clash at the Castle was held at Cardiff, Wales.
Another incentive for international shows is ticket sales. PLEs outside the U.S. (other than the Saudi shows) are so rare that sell-outs are all but guaranteed.
One final reason is that international shows lend an added layer of prestige to WWE events. The idea that the company promotes around the world can improve the WWE’s image.
