Saturday Night Will Open with Huge Title Match
The WWE announces WrestleMania’s first match for night one and it’s going to be a barnburner. Tonight’s SmackDown saw Michael Cole announce that John Cena will challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship on night one.
This is quite the way to start off “The Showcase of the Immortals.” The story of a young John Cena fan-turned-wrestler taking on his idol makes for great television. Add in Theory’s arrogance and his need to prove himself and fans should be in for a wild ride.
However, is the WWE setting the bar too high by kicking WrestleMania off with such a high-octane match?

Analysis: The WWE has a rare opportunity to elevate a young star by pitting him against one of the WWE’s greatest wrestlers. It will have to be careful to protect Theory and Cena, regardless of who wins.
On one hand, the WWE needs to consider elevating Austin Theory by having him defeat Cena. It doesn’t matter if the champion resorts to chicanery. A win over Cena could be huge.
Then again, with rumors that John Cena could face Logan Paul at SummerSlam, should Cena lose? He hasn’t had a good track record on PLEs of late. Will fans see Cena as losing his edge or just not care, satisfied to see John back in the ring?
