Saudi Arabia Show Promises “Legends Will Rise.”
Breaking news as the WWE announces Crown Jewel 2022 will take place on 5 November. The WWE tweeted:
As far as what matches are going to take place, fans have little to go on besides the tagline “Legends will rise again” Some fans are already grimacing at the thought of Bill Goldberg returning for another match. The WWE has a number of former WWE Superstars signed to legends contracts, but are there any main event-level Superstars who can still work a match?
While the WWE might woo the Undertaker out of retirement, many fans would prefer he and other retired legends like Shawn Michaels stay retired, both so they can enjoy their retirement and because they don’t want to see them tarnish their legacy in the ring with a bad match.
Perhaps the WWE has found a way for some of its legends to compete without putting them at risk of dying in the ring. While Ric Flair will be competing the day after SummerSlam at Starrcast V, there’s no chance in hell of the WWE sanctioning a match with someone like Flair, whose health issues are well known.
Of course, the “Legends will rise” tag could mean anything, especially for fans familiar with the WWE’s habit of booking on the fly. “Legends will rise” could refer to a tournament that will acknowledge a rising star or perhaps another instance of the finals for the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments taking place at Crown Jewel.
The WWE held its Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, a major show that included Goldberg challenging Roman Reigns unsuccessfully for the Universal Championship and Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber Match.
