Real-Time Results for Night One of “The Showcase of the Immortals”
It’s time for your WrestleMania XXXIX night one results. WrestleLamia will have the results as they happen so keep checking back as the night progresses.
WrestleMania XXXIX opens with a hype video hosted by Hollywood superstar Kevin Hart.
The Miz is hosting tonight’s show and he’s not alone as WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg is co-hosting.
Before the match, John Cena interacts with some Make-A-Wish kids, whose wish is to attend WrestleMania. Cena soaks in the fans’ cheers before the match begins.
United States Championship Match. Austin Theory (Champion) vs John Cena:
Theory starts off strong and remains dominant. However, Cena’s experience leads to him finding an opening and he locks in the STF, unaware that he inadvertently knocked the referee over earlier. A-Town taps but the referee isn’t there. Cena thinks he’s won and checks on the referee. Cena turns around into a low blow and Theory hits “A-Town” Down for the pinfall victory.
Winner: Austin Theory
WrestleMania Showcase Match. Fatal Four-Way. The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) vs The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) with Valhalla vs Ricochet and Braun Strowman vs Alpha Academy (Otis and Chad Gable):
It’s a wild eight-man spotfest. Chad Gable shows incredible strength as he suplexes Braun Strowman. Later, “The Monster Among Men” rolls out the Strowman Express, steamrolling over his opponents outside the ring until Angelo Dawkins takes him down with a power-packed pounce. Things end when Ricochet goes for a Shooting Star Press on Angelo Dawkins but Dawkins raises his knees. Montez Ford hits a flying bodypress as Dawkins rolls up RIcochet for the win.
Winners: The Street Profits
Seth “Freakin'” Rollins vs Logan Paul
Logan Paul enters the ring on a skyline, celebrating his birthday as he does. A conductor gets the crowd in tune to serenade Seth Rollins and they do a great job.
Rollins takes it to Logan Paul, looking to punish him and beat him down for what he sees as his disrespect for the industry. Outside the ring, Rollins hits a Curb Stomp on Logan’s right hand.
See-saw action back in the ring until Paul catches Rollins with a right hand. However, Paul is too beat up to make the immediate cover. Rollins kicks out.
Logan regains the advantage with the help of the Prime mascot (who turns out to be Logan’s business partner). However, when Paul jumps off the top rope, he eats a superkick followed by a Curb Stomp as Seth gets the 1-2-3.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Six-Women Tag Team Match. Becky Lynch, Lita, and Trish Stratus vs Damage-CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky):
It’s a sizzling six-woman match as Lita and Trish show they haven’t lost a step. Everyone brings their A-game but after Trish and Lita take Dakota and Iyo out of the picture, it’s Bayley vs “The Man.” Bayley goes for a Bayley-to-belly to Becky off the top rope but Becky counters, hitting a Manhandle Slam off the top and covering Bayley for the 1-2-3.
Winners: Lita, Becky Lynch, and Trish Stratus
Bad Bunny is in the house. The popular rapper joins the Spanish announce booth before the Rey vs Dominik match.
Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio
A video shows Dominik being taken from prison and placed in a transport van as he’s handcuffed. The prison van pulls into the arena as Dominik steps out in handcuffs while wearing a luchador’s mask. The correctional officers escort Dominik to the ring before releasing him from the handcuffs.
Rey makes an impressive entrance as Snoop Dogg drives Rey down to the entrance ramp in a low rider. Rey shakes hands with Bad Bunny before heading into the ring.
The newly inducted Hall of Famer proceeds to teach his son a lesson in wrestling and respect. At one point Rey pulls out a belt and begins beating Dom with it, much to the fans’ delight. However, when Dom bails out of the ring, he throws a drink in his sister’s face, leading to her trying to jump the security barrier. Rey tries to stop her only for Dom to blindside him and go to work.
“Ex-Con Dom” wastes time, taunting his mom outside and getting slapped for his trouble. Rey rallies and gets a near-fall on Dom.
The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damien Priest show up, helping Dom regain the advantage. Legado Del Fantasma show up to even the odds, wearing their Latino World Order shirts. Back in the ring, Dom hits a 6-1-9 followed by a Frog Splash for a near fall.
Rey is down as Dominik takes the top turnbuckle cover off. The referee orders Dominik back and it’s all a ruse on Dominik’s part as he digs into his jacket.
Dominik grabs a chain and goes to clobber Rey behind the referee’s back but Bad Bunny jumps on the mat apron, grabbing the chain. Rey hits the 6-1-9 followed by a Frog Splash, covering his wayward son for the win.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Rey’s wife Angie and their daughter join Papa Rey in the ring to celebrate his win.
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match. Charlotte Flair (Champion) vs Rhea Ripley:
It looks like Rhea is going to use her obvious strength advantage to overcome Flair’s obvious technical skills. However, Flair shows some brawling tactics of her own, dishing out punishment to Rhea. Nonetheless, Ripley outmatches her in power and uses it to take advantage.
Charlotte digs down and chops relentless at Rhea before targeting Ripley’s leg. Has Ripley underestimated Charlotte? Flair dives off the top rope but Ripley reverses her momentum and lifts her up, going for Riptide. “The Queen” counters a Riptide into a DDT for a nearfall.
It’s a tooth-and-claw battle until Flair hits her head on the top of the ringpost while she and Rhea are battling on the top rope. Riptide off the top rope and Rhea covers for the win.
Winner: Rhea Ripley (New SmackDown Women’s Champion)
The Miz is in the ring with Snoop Dogg when they note the sell-out crowd. Snoop tells Miz the only thing that would be better would be a match with The Miz. “The A-Lister” tells Snoop he issued an open challenge on social media but nobody answered him.
Pat McAfee enters the arena and says he didn’t see The Miz’ challenge but he’s willing to give him a match. Miz says he’d like to wrestle but he’s the host and he can’t make a match. Snoop says he’s “The Doggdfather” so he can book the match, which he does.
The Miz vs Pat McAfee:
Pat makes short work of the Miz. The Miz bails out of the ring but a football player at ringside clotheslines him and throws him into the ring. Pat hits a punt and gets the pinfall victory.
Winner: Pat McAfee
Undisputed Tag Team Championship Match. The Usos (Champions) vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens:
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn quickly discover that while they’re a good team, they haven’t teamed all that much in the WWE, especially compared to their opponents. The Usos demonstrate the seamless tag team work that’s made them tag team champions longer than any men’s team in WWE history.
Despite some offensive spurts, The Usos are able to do what they do best; isolate their opponents and demolish them so it’s like they’re working a handicap match. Nonetheless, neither Sami or Owens will stay down for a three count. That makes all the difference as Sami finally hits three Helluva Kicks, covering Jey for the win.
Winners: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens (New Undisputed Tag Team Champions)
