He’s back!
PWInsider is reporting that William Regal will be returning to WWE in the new year. The report indicates that Regal and WWE are just finalising final elements of his return deal, and then Regal will be back in WWE in a backstage role.
Additionally, according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio – AEW will likely address Regal’s departure from the company:
“I believe that there is something that’s going to be on Wednesday’s show, if it doesn’t change, where there will be something addressing certain things. That story is supposed to keep going in some way but Regal is going back to WWE. I’ve had so many different people tell me so many different stories. The primary source story is that his contract was short-term. The WWE side says that he had an out”.
Yesterday, it was revealed that EC3 was claiming that Regal was unhappy in AEW, and regretted signing with them. EC3 stated that Regal believed that the maturity levels backstage were a major factor in Regal leaving the company.
