CM Punk Discusses Possible Opponents for AJ
Is CM Punk’s wife AJ Mendez (aka former WWE Superstar AJ Lee) ever returning to the squared circle and if so, who would she wrestle?
Fans have been asking about AJ returning to the ring ever since she retired in 2015. While AJ is currently busy as the executive producer of Women of Wrestling (WOW), Punk recently talked about who his wife might face if she were to return.
The current AEW World Heavyweight Champion spoke with The Skewed and Reviewed with Gareth Von Kallenbach YouTube show
“Sometimes she’ll be like, ‘Tell me when the girls are on.’ She’s a big fan of Jade [Cargill]. I think women like Jade and Britt [Baker] especially, if she’s ever going to want to wrestle, I think they’re the ones that can draw her in based on looks and ability and the work.”

Who Would AJ Lee Wrestle? Two Potential Opponents in AEW
Jade Cargill has quickly become one of AEW’s top female stars while Britt Baker is arguably the best female performer in All Elite Wrestling.
Dr. Britt Baker recently spoke with Sportskeeda about her wish to wrestle AJ:
“I think you have to ask her that, not me. I think I would love to see AJ Lee in the ring again. She did so much for women’s wrestling and I think there’s so much more that she can do, even if she doesn’t know that there are so many girls that still look up to her, myself included. But now, I see myself on an even playing field with her. I feel like I could be better than AJ. So let’s get in the ring and see.”

An AJ return would be huge wherever she wrestled. It’s unknown whether Mendez can wrestle again and Dr. Baker doesn’t want Mendez to feel pressured:
“I would love for her to come out of retirement. I would love for her to be in an AEW ring. I would love to have possibly a mixed tag match with her significant other and my significant other, if the planets aligned. I’m a huge fan of her and would love to see her in the ring one day, but if that’s not in the cards and she doesn’t want to, I’m not about forcing people to do what they want to do either. If she’s at peace and happy with her career, I’m happy for her as well. But I think she can do more.”

A mixed tag match featuring AJ and CM Punk vs. Britt and Adam Cole could be epic. Fans will have to wait as Punk’s comments seemed more like wild speculation than a commitment to AJ returning.
