Conflicting Reports on WrestleMania XXXIX Matches

What are the WWE’s plans for Damage-CTRL? One of the big questions is just what the WWE has planned for them at WrestleMania XXXIX.

You may have heard rumors of a six-women tag match between the heels and the trio of Lita, Becky Lynch, and Trish Stratus. However, if you keep up with the news at WrestleLamia, you know there have been discussions of another ‘Mania match involving Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

According to Dave Meltzer, the WWE plans to have Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey win the titles from Damage-CTRL at the WWE’s flagship PLE. (H/T Cageside Seats)

These conflicting reports have led to fans hypothesizing that the six-women tag match could take place on one night. Consequently, the tag title match would occur on the other night.

However, it’s also possible that the WWE could have Damage-CTRL drop the titles before WrestleMania. Sky and Kai could lose to Rousey and Baszler or perhaps another team.

What Are WWE’s Plans for Damage-CTRL?

Analysis: For a time it looked like the WWE was going to utilize the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to push its female wrestlers. Regrettably, the belts have been collecting dust since Sky and Kai regained them from Asuka and Alexa Bliss.

This failure corresponds with the WWE’s inability to book many of its female undercard performers, especially on SmackDown.
