Did TNT Champion Get Hurt on Rampage?

Time for a look at the Wardlow injury rumors as Dave Meltzer commented on Wardlow’s tag team match with Samoa Joe against Tony Nese and Josh Woods. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer mused:

“Wardlow may have…did you hear anything about Wardlow being hurt? Wardlow appeared to be hurt. I don’t know how serious. He appeared to have a leg injury, but he did come back.”

H/T Wrestling News

Last year, Wardlow appeared on the Dynamite Download podcast and revealed he competed at 2021’s Grand Slam event with a torn calf. Clearly, the big man is no stranger to working hurt:

I’ve never taken a day off or time off for anything, injury or not. I had to take one week off, had to because I didn’t test positive for COVID. I actually tested negative but I was around somebody that tested positive so they wouldn’t let me come to TV one week. That’s the only time. I’ve never asked for a day off, I’ve never taken time off. But that’s not to say I haven’t experienced injuries. I wrestled Blood & Guts with a completely torn calf and got yelled at by Doc [Sampson] afterwards because it was so bad that he said it was very close to having to be cut open. Would’ve been a huge recovery.

Wardlow Injury Rumors

Wardlow has a fantastic work ethic and has been working through some lackluster programs in AEW without a complaint (or at least any public complaints). As noted in a recent WrestleLamia editorial, AEW’s booking of Wardlow has been nothing short of lousy.

There has been no confirmation of an injury but WrestleLamia will continue following this story.
