WWE eventually decided to end The Undertaker’s iconic WrestleMania streak in 2014, but Vince McMahon almost decided to end it several years prior.
Names that McMahon wanted to end the streak included the likes of Mark Henry and Edge, and at one time, McMahon genuinely wanted Vladimir Kozlov to be the one to receive the prestigious honour.
Whilst speaking to Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, The Deadman revealed:
“There were a few people that he wanted to break the streak. Vladamir Kozlov”.
The Deadman went on to discuss how Edge outright refused to end the streak back in 2008:
“I think he wanted Edge, Edge refused. That’s how much he respected The Streak, and me, what he thought The Streak meant to the business. I didn’t know it at the time. I didn’t know that until years after. That just says a lot about the human being he is. Edge grasped how important The Streak had become, he said ‘I don’t think it’s the right thing,’ and he said no”.
