Tony Khan Dismisses AEW Exodus Rumors

AEW President Tony Khan claims no one is leaving AEW, despite Triple H taking over in the WWE’s creative department and as EVP of Talent Relations.

WrestleLamia recently discussed the speculation that former WWE wrestlers might return to the company now that Triple H is back and/or because Vince McMahon is out.

We noted the New York Post’s Joseph Staszewski’s take on things that Triple H played an integral part in many wrestlers’ development in NXT and that this goodwill could lead to former Superstars returning to Titanland.

Staszewski also suggested wrestlers currently working in the WWE might be less likely to want to go elsewhere when their contracts expire.

Tony Khan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and warned fans not to expect AEW’s talent roster to exit in droves:

“There are a lot of changes in pro wrestling. I think it’s going to be really positive for the fans overall. I am a little amused that changes in the competition, people think it’s going to magically change the landscape.

Long-Term Contracts Locking AEW Stars Down?

The AEW President stressed that many AEW wrestlers are under long-term contracts:

Some of these accounts, Twitter can be a fun place to follow, but some of the narratives I’ve seen every day for the last week are really amusing to me. I’ve got people signed here for five years and people think that just because the CEO, Chairman, head of creative, those people changed in the competition, people I have five-year contracts with are going to magically switch teams? Good luck with that. Adam Cole is signed until 2027 now. I wouldn’t expect to see him going anywhere anytime soon. Malakai Black has almost five years left on his deal. I wouldn’t expect him going anywhere anytime soon.

Short of AEW going belly-up, the only scenario where wrestlers would return to the WWE would be if AEW suffered a drastic drop in locker room morale and these wrestlers were able to persuade Khan to release them.

As WrestleLamia noted in our story on the talk of ex-WWE Superstars returning to the ‘E, it remains to be seen how successful Triple H’s run in creative will be.
