Lesnar vs. Omos is now set for WrestleMania.
This past Monday on RAW, WWE confirmed that Brock Lesnar will be taking on Omos at WrestleMania 39.
This match announcement came as a huge surprise, as Omos has been barely featured on WWE TV in recent months, so fans are now questioning why they should care and invest in a match of this nature.
Nevertheless, Lesnar has had a long road to WrestleMania 39 with numerous pitches, some good, some bad, and one pitch that Lesnar outright declined.
The first match originally presented for Lesnar at WrestleMania was a dream match with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin was approached with the possibility of facing Lesnar, but Austin declined. Austin had previously come out of retirement the year prior to face Kevin Owens, and either a match with Lesnar or Roman Reigns seemed like the next logical step.
In November of 2022, it looked like WWE were planning on booking Lesnar vs. Gunther. This was eventually nixed, and Fightful Select or any other site can’t offer a reason as to why. This match was even teased at the Royal Rumble, and the tease received a nuclear reaction from fans.
Fans firmly expected Bobby Lashley to finally settle the score with Lesnar at WrestleMania, especially due to the inconclusive finish at the Elimination Chamber event. However, this isn’t WWE’s direction, and the feud has been left open-ended.
Lashley is now set to face Bray Wyatt, and Wyatt vs. Lesnar was actually pitched to Lesnar, but he turned this match proposal down as per Fightful Select.
This leads us to Omos, which is the current plan for the show, and this is unlikely to change. According to Fightful Select – Lesnar personally approved of the Omos match. The match in all likelihood will feature a few basic moves, and will be over within a few minutes, making it an easy match, and an easy pay-day for Lesnar.
WrestleVotes implied on Twitter yesterday, that Vince McMahon pushed for the Lesnar vs. Omos match to happen. Fightful Select believe that this “could be true”, but some sources are still stating that McMahon has zero to do with modern-day WWE creative.
