WWE Segment Hints that Wrestler Could Revisit Old Gimmick
Is a SmackDown Superstar reverting to his NXT persona? While fans are speculating that Butch could revert to his Pete Dunne character, this situation has to do with Max Dupri.
According to Wrestling News’ Paul Davis, the WWE dropped a hint on the latest SmackDown that Dupri could be revisiting his NXT character. Davis elaborated on a backstage gimmick where Max gave Mace and Mansoor a pep talk with Dupri telling them “You have to go through the day to get to the night, yeah.”

SmackDown Superstar Reverting to NXT Persona?
Davis explained the meaning of Max’s words, noting:
That was a clear reference to his previous “LA Knight” gimmick that he portrayed while he was in NXT. The “Yeah” was part of his catchphrase when he was Eli Drake in TNA/Impact Wrestling.

Hopefully, this won’t lead to Mace and Mansoor returning to the sidelines. Although the Maximum Male Models gimmick may not be the stuff of legend, it’s the first time either Superstar has had TV time in quite a while.
