Could Roman Reigns be stepping away from the squared-circle?
There is brand new speculation that the current WWE and Universal Champion could be retiring. This speculation comes from fans who have questioned why Reigns has been breaking character after recent live events. Over the past few weeks, Reigns has been delivering babyface promos to the audience after the show, thanking them for coming, and stating how grateful he is for their support.
This continued last night at the WWE house show in Trenton, New Jersey, as Reigns got on the mic after his match, and declared: “I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back here again”. Could this mean that Reigns is hinting at retirement? And this could be Reigns’ final run in the company? Reigns during his promo also stated that he’s starting a new phase of his life, and fans have speculated that this could potentially involve a move into a brand new career such as acting.
Due to the speculation surrounding Roman Reigns, and his potential retirement, it’s interesting to know just when his contract expires. It turns out, his contract ends in April of 2023, but it’s unclear what date in April exactly. This could mean that if Reigns is indeed leaving WWE, then WrestleMania 39 could see his last match in the company.
Naturally, WWE could convince and most likely will convince Reigns to sign a new deal. Even if this deal is slightly altered. Reigns could become a part-time performer in WWE, this would allow Reigns to pursue new ventures, whilst coming back to WWE for major shows, similar to how Brock Lesnar’s contract has operated in the past.
One thing is clear, and that is if Reigns does decide to leave WWE, this will leave a massive dent in WWE’s star-power. Reigns has been WWE’s top guy for years now, and there is nobody at Reigns level on the roster to replace him at this stage. It will be interesting to see how the next 11-months develop, and any news in relation to Reigns’ future will be delivered as soon as Wrestlelamia discovers any further details.
I don’t wanna see him leave, he’s been a great wrestler in the business and I’ve been able to connect with his journey.
