Sinclair Broadcasting Reportedly Was Interested in ROH Alumni
Is it true that ROH wanted CM Punk and Bryan Danielson back in 2020? Let’s hear what Ring of Honor founder Cary Silkin had to say about what could have been a game-changer for the famed promotion.
Tony Khan owns Ring of Honor but back in 2020, things were much different as Sinclair Broadcasting still owned the company and it was trying to regain its momentum after the departure of The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes. During an interview with Wrestling Inc.’s Nick Hausman, former ROH owner Cary Silkin recalled:
“Then in 2020, pre-pandemic, when he was out of wrestling, Sinclair, when they were still trying to grow this was … And I don’t remember if it was before the first All Out, All In or after, might have been after that. Sinclair was trying to lure CM Punk or Bryan Danielson or both.”

ROH Wanted Punk and Danielson in 2020
Obviously, nothing came of the efforts as both Punk and Danielson eventually signed with AEW. As for Punk, Silkin shared his opinion on what working with “The Straight Edge Superstar” was like during their time in ROH:
“He was fine,” Silkin said. “He was fine. Once in a while, just like all these guys, he would b*tch and moan, but overall, he was good to me and good for the company.”
