“Slick Ric” Could Induct Former Foe into 2023 Class
Is Ric Flair inducting a 2023 Hall of Famer? While Rey Mysterio is the only announced inductee, fans have heard rumors about other candidates. One of them is the Japanese sensation The Great Muta (aka Keiji Muta).
Now, there’s a rumor as to who will induct Muta. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer recently stated he believes Flair will induct Muta:
“I presume that’s Keiji Muto because Ric Flair has asked to induct Muto, or has been asked to induct Muto. A lot of people thought it would be Sting, but politically that would have been tough before, I think it would have been even tougher now. I don’t know if that’s the case. We do know that Muto has been asked to be in the Hall of Fame, and we do know that Flair has asked to induct him, so that seems to make sense.”

Sting would be a better choice than Flair. Sting and Muta fans know that the two men had many intense battles in World Championship Wrestling. The two legends also fought in Japan. Furthermore, Sting teamed with Muta during Muta’s recent retirement tour.
Nonetheless, getting an AEW wrestler to appear at a WWE event is problematic given the tension between WWE management and AEW President Tony Khan.
That’s not to say “The Nature Boy” is a poor pick to induct Muta. Flair had some epic battles with Muta in WCW back in 1989. Flair teamed with Sting to battle Muta and Terry Funk at 1989’s Halloween Havoc.
