“Rowdy” Ronda Supposedly Not Competing
What’s the real reason Ronda Rousey is out of the Rumble? After all, “Rowdy” Ronda won the 2022 Royal Rumble. Furthermore, she recently held the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
So far, it appears that Ronda Rousey won’t compete in the Rumble. While plans can always change, Dave Meltzer reports:
Ronda Rousey will not be in the Rumble (or at least that was the decision as of midweek) because of the feeling that they didn’t want to marginalize her star power by being just someone in the match since she wasn’t going to win it or be the focal point, and Charlotte Flair, rumored to be in, at press time was not to be in because she’s Smackdown champion.

The Rumble has some top stars booked for the match but “Rowdy” Ronda’s absence will be felt. This invites the question of whether the WWE has nothing planned for her for the time being.
Rousey could easily be booked into the Rumble and dominate the match while still being eliminated. This has happened multiple times before in the Rumble and eliminations are often used to set up a subsequent program.
Unless Rousey cannot compete, it’s puzzling why the WWE can’t come up with a plausible situation to have her eliminated and remain looking strong.
Real Reason Ronda Rousey Out of Rumble
As always, plans can change so hopefully the WWE will reconsider pulling Rousey out of the Rumble.
