Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ponders Future
Nick Aldis reveals his free agency. This is big news for the wrestling world due to Aldis’ amazing credentials. The former NWA World Heavyweight Champion recently finished a run in the National Wrestling Alliance. Previously, Aldis held the IMPACT World Championship and worked in Japan.
Aldis, who has earned a reputation as one of wrestling’s best workers is now free to work anywhere he wants. The 36-year-old grappler spoke with Sportskeeda about what’s next:
“Free agency. That’s it, dude. I know it’s been suggested that there must be something else. Truthfully, I want to explore free agency. I just want to be free of a contract and a certain brand commitment, a sort of branding of any kind for a minute and just see what comes next,”

It sounds as if Aldis wants to test the waters, which could lead to him appearing in any number of promotions. Depending on his ability to work out a deal, Aldis could work the Royal Rumble or show up on Dynamite for one or more matches.
Aldis’ past history with IMPACT Wrestling and his time in Japan suggest where he could end up. Nick, who is married to Mickie James, also commented on why he left Billy Cogan’s NWA:
“It was just time to move on, that’s all. I have businesses. I have Legacy Sports Nutrition and we have some other businesses that we are working on. As far as wrestling, at this point, I feel like I can deliver wherever. I just love the business and I feel like I can contribute to a pretty high level. But at the same time, if I’m gonna spend time away from my son, and I’m gonna take bumps, I gotta be feeling it. It’s gotta be something that I’m passionate about. I’ve gotta be feeling it. I’ve gotta feel like it’s going somewhere.”

Aldis has the talent and size to make him an asset wherever he wants to work. While Aldis says he wants to experience the wrestling world as a free agent, it’s likely the WWE and AEW are ready to back up the Brinks’ truck for him should he decide to put pen to paper on a contract.
