More news about WWE 2K23 has emerged. This includes features such as Universe Mode, MyGM, MyRise, and more. With WWE 2K23 just a week away from release (if you’ve ordered the Deluxe or Icon editions), fans are gearing up for this year’s edition.
Universe Mode
WWE 2K23’s Creative Director Lynell Jinks spoke with Screen Rant’s Deven McClure about the popular Universe Mode. The ability to book your own storylines, matches, and segments is fun for fantasy bookers. However, past games have been limited in giving players creative options. It sounds as if this game will have more creative choices:
With Universe, there’s some huge improvements that we made there to help tell the story and give users even more control than they’ve already had, which is crazy to think about. You can have actions that you want certain superstars to perform before a match, like, “Okay, I want Bobby Lashley to shake hands with MVP before the match, but at the last second, I want him to just punch him.” Like, those are actions that you can actually assign to that match and watch those cutscenes play out and see how that kind of dictates your rivalry

MyRise Mode
This year’s WWE 2K23 features a MyRise mode for male and female characters. According to the game’s developers, they want players to enjoy wrestling’s ability to tell stories by using this mode. Lynell Jinks commented:
MyRise is like your journey through coming up in the WWE, for the male storyline, which is called The Lock this year, the female storyline that’s called The Legacy, right?

Creation Suite
Gameplay and graphics are the foundation of any good game. However, there are usually wrestlers who don’t appear in a game that players want to use. Thus, create-a-wrestler modes bridge this gap whether it’s wrestlers from another promotion, legends who aren’t included in the current edition, or homebrew creators.
This year, the game’s developers talked about fixing a problem they saw with past creative suites:
The characters that we allowed our community to create just weren’t on par with our own Superstars, right? They just looked a little artificial. And it was one of the biggest mandates that we had this year to get the Creative Suite Superstars at the same level of fidelity as we put into our very own Superstars on 2K22 and even 2K23, and we did that. So when you look at the creations that you’re able to create now, they’re on par.

As WrestleLamia mentioned in another report on WWE 2K23, one of the biggest limitations with creating wrestlers is how many wrestlers can be saved to your game. Will the WWE expand the number this year?
Associate Gameplay Producer Bryan Williams added:
And the level of control that the players will have in Universe this year is something that I don’t think they are expecting. I mean, Universe already is about control and being able to manipulate everything, but this new layer of being able to actually now set and direct the certain actions and events to happen.

If 2K Games’ designers have pulled this off, players could have the ultimate wrestling sandbox to play in. However, these many additions also create the possibility for more glitches, bugs, and meltdowns.
MyGM Mode
Many WWE fans and gamers love the MyGM mode. The mode returned in WWE 2K22 and it’s being expanded in WWE 2K23. According to a report from Operation Sports’ Josh Houtz, there are new playable general managers, new matches, and new gameplay elements:
Maybe the biggest game-changer of them all, however, is the addition of several new match types. This year if you want to battle inside an unforgiving steel cage, you can do that. Want to sanction a backstage brawl or falls count anywhere match with two of your feuding superstars? Yep, it’s in there too. 2K23 has also added Submission, Tornado Tag, Iron Man, Last Man Standing matches, and more!

There will also be two new brands for players to promote. Players can now manage World Championship Wrestling and NXT 2.0. There are a new group of General Managers to play. Xavier Woods, Tyler Breeze, Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley, and Kurt Angle are now available. In addition to these, gamers can also play GMs Stephanie McMahon, Adam Pearce, Shane McMahon, and a created GM.
This year’s game will have secondary singles titles as well:
Secondary Championships are now available for each brand, such as the US Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and North American Championship.

This year’s MyGM addresses some of the limitations players complained about over last year’s MyGM. The 2K23 MyGM will reportedly also allow players to run infinite campaigns as opposed to one-year terms.
