The MITB has been a WWE staple since 2005!
Last night at the WrestleMania Backlash event, WWE aired a promo package promoting Money in the Bank, set to take place on July 2nd.
During this promo package, Cody Rhodes announced that the Money in the Bank winners will get the chance to “main event WrestleMania”. This has led to confusion from fans, who have been questioning if WWE have suddenly changed the prize for winning the Money in the Bank contract.
Since 2005, the winner of the Money in the Bank has been allowed to cash-in on the World Champion at any point over the next calendar year. This would be a drastic change to the match, and it would make little sense.
Possessing the element of cashing the briefcase ‘at any time’ will eliminate any suspense over the WWE year, as cash-ins will be guaranteed at Wrestlemania. Whilst not always a hit, especially in recent times, it has led to some exciting situations when wrestlers have opted to cash in the briefcase after a world champion has wrestled a hellacious match, often leading to an easy win.
If the WWE abandons this wild card element, how will it handle things? Davis speculated:
One possibility is that the men’s MITB winner would challenge for the WWE Championship, for example. Then the men’s Rumble winner would challenge for the Universal Championship. The women’s MITB winner would challenge for the Raw Women’s Title at Mania, for example. The women’s Rumble winner would challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Basically, the Rumble winners would no longer be picking which champion they want to face.
Ultimately, this could have been a huge error on WWE’s part? Time will certainly tell.

he did say the chance to main event maybe its more like if there sucessful cashing in they could hold on to the title for long enough and be challenged at wrestle mania for it ??? just a thought but very weird wording I do agree
