Millions Affected by Storm Including Wrestlers
Hurricane Ian is impacting both wrestling and wrestlers as people in Florida deal with the approaching Level Four Hurricane.
Naturally, the hurricane’s impact on wrestling is nowhere near as important as the storm’s impact on millions of people but since this is WrestleLamia and not CNN, we felt wrestling fans would want to know about the storm’s effects on the industry.
Speaking of CNN, the news site provided an update on the hurricane:
Hurricane Ian’s “extremely dangerous” eyewall – just shy of Category 5 strength – is moving onshore in southwestern Florida, with the storm poised to inflict “catastrophic” winds, storm surge and flooding across a large portion of the state, forecasters say.

In addition to NXT postponements covered elsewhere on our site, there are other situations involving wrestlers in Florida.
AEW President Tony Khan informed his wrestlers via Twitter that:
For everyone in @AEW, in case you missed our email, anyone worried about Hurricane Ian affecting your travel or home or your family life, it’s voluntary to come to tv this week.

Anyone affected by the hurricane can take care of business at home, & we hope to see you all next week

WWE Superstar Natalya tweeted this to her fans:
We are currently in the direct path of Hurricane Ian, but we are in a safe enough spot not near the water, and have been preparing for the storm as much as we possibly can. We haven’t been asked to evacuate but we’re taking the storm very seriously. Hoping everyone stays safe😞

Although wrestling promotions often have had a “the show must go on” mentality, there’s a difference between bad weather and weather that can lead to a state of emergency.
Fans may recall that the WWE moved heaven and earth to run WrestleMania XXXVI when the COVID pandemic was leading to global shutdowns.
The promotion ultimately chose to hold the event without fans as pressure mounted on the WWE to follow the quarantine procedures being adhered to elsewhere.
WrestleLamia sends its thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by Hurricane Ian and will continue following this developing story.
