21 September Dynamite Could Feature a Huge Swerve
Time to bail out if you don’t like surprises as there is a potentially huge spoiler for Grand Slam. Judging from recent comments by AEW President Tony Khan, fans could see a Money in the Bank-type situation during or after the Jon Moxley vs Bryan Danielson bout for the AEW World Championship.
Tonight’s special from Arthur Ashe Stadium features the final round of the tournament to crown a new AEW World Champion. Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley are scheduled to compete and while Danielson is the favorite to win, that’s not the spoiler.
Potentially Huge Spoiler for Grand Slam
The spoiler concerns MJF, who recently won a contract at All Out to challenge for the AEW World Championship. Previous winners have had to wrestle the champion at a scheduled bout but some comments from Tony Khan have some fans feeling this contract is much like the WWE’s “Money in the Bank” contract where the holder can cash it in at any time.
All Elite Wrestling’s President was asked about when the contract could be executed, answering:
“At any time at any sanctioned event we can certainly make it happen. In this day in age, with live television and pay-per-view events, all these opportunities, it’s exciting to have a contender out there looming and to have this big championship match tonight on Dynamite, certainly, it’s that much more interesting to have two of the best wrestlers in the world Bryan Daneison vs Jon Moxley one on one for the World Championship. And to have a great wrestler like MJF looming in the background as a top contender with the right to challenge for the title any time. It’s a very interesting championship picture right now in AEW.”

You may recall that when MJF returned to AEW at the Dynamite following All Out that he said he wasn’t entering the tournament because he wanted the wrestlers involved to do all the work for him. Could this be a sign that the diabolical MJF has planned this all along?
