Dax and Cash Share News with Fans
FTR reveal when they’re retiring; at least that’s the story fans heard during the taping of the 14 April Rampage. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (aka FTR) recently re-upped with AEW and now, they’re letting fans know how much longer they’ll be in the ring.
According to Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online’s Bryan Rose:
During Wednesday’s Rampage tapings, Cash Wheeler announced to the crowd that they had signed a new four-year deal with the company. The duo said that after this four-year deal was up, they would retire.

It was believed that FTR’s AEW deal would expire in April 2023. At one point, Harwood hinted the team might return to the WWE. However, that didn’t happen.
FTR’s Reasons for Remaining in AEW
The current AEW World Tag Team Champions recently discussed why they chose to remain in AEW. During an interview with Uproxx’s Raj Prashad, Cash shared why AEW is so important:
“AEW is home, this is where we want to cement our legacy, and I think this is going to be our definitive run right here,To be able to go to Japan and do what we’ve done, to go to Mexico and do what we’ve done, to go work for these independents and do stuff with Bret (Hart), to do stuff that we’ve had on our bucket list, that from 2014 to 2020 was not even possible. There’s so much more we can do and we wanted to do,”

Dax explained another important reason for FTR remaining in AEW:
“I think that Tony gets Dax and Cash, FTR, better than Vince. I think he understands that we are average, everyday human beings that just caught on with the fans because they can relate to us, because we’re either family men or just regular human beings. We just enjoy physicality and we enjoy fighting, and I think that they can live their lives through us. (Vince has) a business track record that proves that he is obviously very intelligent to the business, but I think he thinks he knows what the Revival was better than we did.

FTR noted that they had already made up their mind about staying in AEW before the WWE’s proposed merger with Endeavor was announced. Nonetheless, the “uncertainty” over Vince’s position in creative did affect their decision.
