Ric Flair Invites Announcer To Appear at WrestleMania XXXIX
Is an ESPN announcer managing at WrestleMania XXXIX? The topic came up when ESPN First Take host Stephen A. Smith interviewed Ric Flair and Flair invited him to the 2023 “Show of Shows.”
The colorful commentator known for his outspoken attacks on The Dallas Cowboys and his hilarious catchphrases recently spoke with Ric Flair about Flair’s upcoming WWE documentary.
According to The New York Post, “Slick Ric” invited Smith to appear at the upcoming “Showcase of the Immortals” and work as a manager.
Smith seemed to be onboard with the idea, telling “The Nature Boy”:
“Bobby ‘the Brain’ Heenan, Paul Heyman and these guys — I would love to be a bad guy manager. I don’t want to be the goody-two-shoes guy. I want to be the bad manager. Think I could pull it off, Ric Flair? I think I could pull it off!”

The ESPN First Take host said his appearance would depend on one stipulation:
“If they want me to be a bad guy manager, here’s the problem. No one can touch me. I’m gonna have that as part of my contract. I’m too frail! I can’t let them touch me, man. I got a lot of life to look forward to. One of them big dudes … I can’t take anybody body-slamming me. It ain’t happening, Ric Flair. That’s my only thing.”
