AEW Manager Takes Bad Bump During Melee
Bad news as Don Callis was injured during Dynamite. The Elite’s manager took a bad bump, leading to a real-life injury.
Wrestlers know how to blur the line between fiction and reality but as fans know, sometimes things go wrong. Such was the case for Don Callis on the 29 March Dynamite when Jon Moxley punched him during a backstage segment.
AEW was running an angle where Callis attempted to apologize to “Hangman” Adam Page. Callis extended his hand to Page only for The Blackpool Combat Club to show up and lay into Page. Jon Moxley slugged Callis after The Elite’s manager extended his hand to him.
According to PWInsider, Kenny Omega’s manager accidentally struck his head while falling down. Callis was “busted open” and treated by AEW medical officials. (H/T Wrestling News)
Update: Bryan Alvarez posted an update on Wrestling Observer Live:
“In taking the bump, Don was unaware that there was a lighting rig right behind him. He went head first into the lighting rig and he got gashed open. It was described to me as looking like he was hit with a hatchet…allegedly his doctor told him it was so deep that you could see his skull, bleeding everywhere. They took him to the hospital and he was there until 3 am…He was there til 3 am because it took them that long to put his head back together.”
