Was Kingston Written Off for ROH Run?

Did Eddie Kingston quit AEW? We’ll let fans decide whether this was a shoot or a work. Nonetheless, it appears Kingston has been written out of AEW.

Kingston, who has been feuding with former tag team partner Ortiz was interviewed backstage after the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.

Kingston told interviewer, Lexy Nair, he was quitting AEW:

As Ringside News’ Manik Aftab suggested:

Kingston had already challenged Claudio Castagnoli for the Ring of Honor World Championship during a recent ROH taping. So, this could very well be AEW’s way of writing him off of television.

H/T Ringside News

It certainly seems that way. Fans will have to wait and see whether Kingston is gone for good or taking a sabbatical. There have been no reports that Kingston walked out on AEW. This is clearly a storyline.

Did Eddie Kingston Quit AEW?

Analysis: Kingston’s departure could be the beginning of other AEW exits now that Ring of Honor is taping episodes for its TV programs on its streaming service.

Fans and pundits have speculated that Ring of Honor could give underutilized AEW stars a place to work. It appears several of AEW’s bigger names such as Kingston, Samoa Joe, and Claudio Castagnoli will be featured in ROH.

It will be interesting to see what other AEW talent works in ROH as the company still has too much talent to fit into its weekly TV.

While ROH presents an opportunity to use AEW stars, it also presents a challenge. ROH enthusiasts will want to see ROH wrestlers on their shows and not see this as a bastardized version of the show they enjoyed.

Thankfully, AEW has many former ROH talents on its roster that could make fans comfortable with the revived ROH promotion.

In the meantime, what’s next for Kingston? Will you miss him in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
