Claudio worked 11 years in the WWE before letting his contract expire earlier this year. His WWE run was highlighted by his tag team championship run alongside Sheamus as “The Bar.”
Despite his undeniable talent, Cesaro never broke through as a singles star in the WWE. At one point it looked like he might finally be getting the push his fans wanted. In 2021, Cesaro challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and feuded with Seth Rollins.
Cesaro’s push fizzled afterward as he was soon back in the mid-card. There was uncertainty about whether Cesaro would remain in the WWE with some talk he’d grown comfortable there and didn’t want to wrestle anywhere else.
Obviously that’s not the case as “The Swiss Superman” is now All Elite and now a member of one of AEW’s top factions.
Cesaro Debuts in AEW: What’s Next?
Claudio joins Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta as a member of the Blackpool Combat Club. Claudio is expected to wrestle at 29 June’s Blood and Guts Match.
Even at age 41, Castagnoli looks fantastic and has the technical skills and size that should benefit AEW.
