Two New World Champions Crowned and Two Big Returns
A big night at the IMPACT Rebellion pay-per-view. The 16 April show featured the crowning of two new world champions and two big returns. Let’s look at what happened during IMPACT Wrestling’s latest PPV.
Sunday’s Rebellion pay-for-view provided plenty of excitement and surprises for IMPACT Wrestling fans. Wrestling News’ Paul Davis reports that Steve Maclin defeated KUSHIDA to win the IMPACT World Championship while Deonna Purrazzo defeated Jordynne Grace to win the company’s Knockouts Championship.
Coincidentally, both world title matches were booked to fill vacant championships as Josh Alexander and Mickie James respectively had to relinquish their belts due to injuries.
In addition, former IMPACT World Champion Nick Aldis returned to the company, confronting Maclin after he defeated KUSHIDA. Aldis was one of wrestling’s top free agents after leaving the National Wrestling Alliance in late 2022.
In addition, former WWE Superstar Santino Marella wrestled for the first time since 2014. Marella has been serving as IMPACT’s Director of Authority. Sportskeeda’s Rohit Nath reported:
The handicap match at Impact Rebellion saw Santino Marella team up with Dirty Dango and Joe Hendry to defeat The Design. The odds saw Marella go three against four, but they were ultimately successful.

Marella’s return seems to have been well-received. It’s unknown if he plans on working any other matches. Santino’s daughter Arianna Grace currently works in the company.
