The Usos became double champions this past Friday on SmackDown.
The Usos became the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions this past Friday on SmackDown. However, according to a new report, the decision to crown The Usos as double champions wasn’t as simple as fans may have thought.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the call to have a genuine title change was made late on Friday. The only thing in the initial script for SmackDown was the post match beatdown which was designed to write Randy Orton off WWE TV.
In relation to the planned winners of the match, it is said that WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon went back and forth in relation to who he wanted to win the match. Eventually, McMahon made the call to crown The Usos as double champions.
The post-match beatdown of RK-Bro on SmackDown opens the door for WWE’s planned premium live event matches featuring Roman Reigns. WWE is planning on having Reigns face Riddle at the Money in the Bank event and then a few weeks later, WWE is planning on having Reigns face Orton at SummerSlam.
