Eight Teams Will Compete for Women’s Tag Team Championship

Good news for fans of the women’s division as the WWE reveals the women’s tag team tournament bracket. The WWE has announced that eight teams will vie to fill the vacant women’s tag team titles.

There are some interesting teams arrayed for this tournament, a reminder of how weak the women’s tag team division is. Nonetheless, the WWE has pulled some surprises.

Two highlights are the inclusion of the recently-returned Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky as well as NXT competitors Nikita Lyons and Zoey Stark.

There are what look to be the usual sacrificial lambs in the teams of Dana Brooke/Tamina and Doudrop/Nikki ASH but the WWE may throw in a surprise or two.

Wrestling News’ Paul Davis brought up a scenario a number of fans and analysts have been throwing out as a possible finale to the tournament:

It’s expected that Banks and Naomi will be involved in some way. If they are not in the tournament then they would be involved in a feud with whoever gets crowd as the new champions.
